Hope Advanced Veterinary Center in Vienna, Virginia is seeking an internal medicine (IMED) specialty intern for the year 2021-2022, starting July 5, 2021 and ending July 17, 2022.
This is a one-year position working directly with our internists (Dr.
Kelly Gisselman and Dr.
Keith Sobel), requiring routine interaction and case management with our ER and other specialty services.
The position will allow electives for in-hospital and out-of-the-hospital rotations in other fields.
You must have a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent) and completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at a veterinary college or specialty private practice.

Specialty Internship 2021-2022:

5 months off Internal Medicine (12 elective weeks, 2 vacation weeks) -Internal Medicine 5-day work week (M-Fr) -Coverage of in-patients on Saturdays (off Sunday) -Required to present one Topic Rounds during the year and to attend monthly Topic Rounds -Required to attend intern/resident journal rounds and participate/present when requested -Required to present 2 IMED peer-reviewed journal articles every week when on service -Salary $45,000 for the year -State license and AVMA membership dues covered -Medical/dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability offered -DC Academy membership included (monthly 6-hour CE opportunity) -VIN membership included Hope Advanced Veterinary Center is a multi-specialty, 24-hour emergency and referral center in Vienna, VA, just outside of Washington, DC We are a teaching hospital and have rotating interns, specialty interns, and residents.
We currently have two, full-time board-certified internists.
Our other specialists include oncology and ophthalmology.
Hope Advanced Veterinary Center also works directly with an in-house cardiology group, Chesapeake Veterinary Cardiology Associates (CVCA), in-house radiology group, Synergy, and an in-house surgery group, Veterinary Surgical Center (VSC).
We have off-site regular consultation with a neurology group, Bush Veterinary Neurology Serivce (BVNS).
A board-eligible criticalist is a part of our emergency doctor staff.
Our internal medicine service, IMED, is currently open 5 days a week from Monday-Friday, and our internists are available on-call after-hours and on the weekends for case consultation and urgent, emergency procedures.
Hope Advanced Veterinary Center has a high volume caseload with over 20,000 patients seen last year.
IMED performs many case consultations and procedures including ultrasounds, scoping procedures (nasopharyngoscopy, bronchoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy), feeding tube placements (NE, E, PEG-tubes), CT scans, aspirations (masses, organs, bone marrows, joints, etc) and biopsies (nasal, intestinal, skin, other).
Our staff is composed of veterinarians and veterinary technicians/assistants (31 of our techs are licensed) who bring to our patients and their families the finest in medical training and unparalleled experience in veterinary medicine.
The Hope Center even has a veterinary technician mentorship program aimed at training the highest skilled veterinary technicians crucial to a high volume ICU.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
