Database Administrator
Description
Sotera Defense Solutions is seeking a Database Administrator with a passion for data and best practices to administer the database environment and to ensure on-going functionality and efficiency of the database in support of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Be part of a team that provides state-of-the-art IT engineering and services in database administration, system administration, network engineering, cloud architecture, applications monitoring, software and hardware management, customer service desk operations providing as many as three tiers of service, and user training for the FBI.
The Database Administrator will perform tasks such as, but not limited to the following:
Provide Oracle Database installation, configuration and technical support
Coordinate and Support Oracle database and application upgrades and patches
Plan, coordinate, design, develop, test and implement Oracle Server database backup and disaster recovery routine
Create and Maintain Oracle Server physical database structures based on logical design specifications provided by the application developer
Provide technical and functional analysis in the Oracle Server environments
Conduct a thorough analysis of operational, technical and systemic requirements for any required modification to maintain the Oracle database
In collaboration with application developers, plan, coordinate, design, develop, test and execute data migrations from Oracle database
Perform modifications to Oracle environments to support changes to the applications, reporting requirements and user requests
Develop Oracle databases to support new or current applications, ensuring physical or virtual database configuration and storage needs are met
Ensure compliance with established FBI Oracle database standards and propose new/revised standards as necessary
Monitor existing Oracle databases database storage needs and perform fine tuning to ensure the databases are running efficiently
Provide support for data migrations from legacy systems into Oracle databases utilizing readily available tools such as Oracle SQLLDR
Requirements
Job Requirements
Must be able to maintain a Top Secret clearance
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of database experience
Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience with Oracle 12c, both single instance and Real Applications
Clusters (RAC) databases within a high availability environment
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with Oracle Data Guard
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN)
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
Must have knowledge of MS SQL and noSQL databases
Must be able to perform database tuning for databases running on x86, x86-64 and Oracle architectures
Must have knowledge of different operating systems to include Linux, Windows and Solaris
Must have a minimum of five years of administration, implementation, and operations and maintenance of Oracle databases on virtualized servers and on non-virtualized servers
Must be able to provide a variety of hardware and software troubleshooting methods
Must have an understanding of DNS and IP addressing
Allocation and management of drive space on the servers
General knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guidelines regarding security of databases
