JOB SUMMARY Productivity Engineers provide technical assistance to member nonprofits to find operational efficiencies that lead to sustainable programs and increased or enhanced employment outcomes for persons with disabilities.
This position will specialize in research, testing, and implementing programs that leverage emerging technology.
Areas may include, but are not limited to, computer aided design and machining, automation, telepresence, and extended reality.
This position will also identify new opportunities for collaboration with the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry.
As a member of the Productivity Engineering team under the Workforce Development business unit, the individual hired for this position will receive and prioritize requests for services from internal and external stakeholders, work independently to develop and deploy interventions, and may be called upon to lead internal working groups based on their area of specialization.
This position will have no direct managerial authority and will report to the Director of Productivity Engineering.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Identify types and sources of production waste - and assist in its elimination Assist with production line reconfiguration Design, develop, and test aids to production to improve accommodations for persons with disabilities Develop procedures to improve production speed, quality, safety, productivity, and flexibility Create and encourage innovation and productivity improvements Develop and follow-up of on recommendations to member nonprofits Communicate with and travel to member nonprofits to assess their state of service and production activities Work with member nonprofit management to prioritize the scope and sequence of engineering assistance Research and test the use of new technologies to increase and improve employment opportunities for persons with disabilities Promote, use, and train the use of new technology across with fellow Productivity Engineers and member nonprofits Identify opportunities for collaboration with the ICT sector Situationally lead small teams of individuals either in department or in a matrixed approach Able to help others in problem solving and ultimately responsible for resolution.
Represent the business unit as a primary point of contact in area of specialization Other duties as assigned REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in related field of study from an accredited institution or equivalent (1.
5 years of work experience = 1 year of college) 7 years of related work experience PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 10 years of related work experience OTHER REQUIREMENTS Experience in assistive technology, rehabilitation engineering, and/or workplace accommodations and productivity improvements Knowledge of new technologies to enhance employment Strong mechanical aptitude Strong computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) and CAD software Strong networking ability Ability to develop sound working relationships with others and be able to work in a fast paced, complex environment Understanding of the AbilityOne Program (preferred, not required) Project management experience Negotiation skills Excellent team and group development skills Travel required Ability to effectively collaborate with individuals and teams across a 400

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
